The short answer
If your prayer life is rooted in the Catholic tradition, with the Rosary, Mass readings and seasonal challenges, Hallow is likely the better fit. Better Human is a Christian companion app, with an angel who talks with you, small daily habits, and Bible stories and games for children. Both have something for kids, in quite different ways.
What Hallow does well
- Catholic-first prayer and meditation audio, including the Rosary and daily Mass readings
- Seasonal challenges such as Pray40 for Lent, featuring well-known voices
- Sleep stories and a large library of guided sessions
- Kids' profiles at no extra charge on any subscription
- A Friends and Family plan for up to six people, plus apps for iPad and Android
How Better Human is different
Guided prayer or a conversation
Hallow is built around listening. You press play on a guided prayer, a meditation or a reading, and a narrator leads you. Better Human is built around a conversation with your angel. You choose its name, voice and look, and it answers out loud and in text with Scripture and stories from the Bible. Each morning your angel also reads you a verse, a short reflection and a prayer. Hallow has AI features in beta as of October 2026, but guided audio is still its heart.
Which Bible, and whose tradition
Hallow's prayers and readings come from the Catholic tradition and are developed with Catholic theology and spirituality guides. Better Human has no denomination setting. Its Bible library holds the 66 books of the World English Bible, read aloud, with guided reading paths, highlights and notes. Catholic Bibles also include the deuterocanonical books, such as Tobit and Sirach, which are not in Better Human's library. If those books and the Church's seasons shape your family's prayer, Hallow serves them directly.
Children's time in each app
Hallow gives kids their own profiles at no extra charge, with prayers and sessions written for children. Better Human's kids' section feels more like a storybook and a playroom. Children can watch 31 painted Bible story films with words to follow, color pages from the stories and play Catch the Blessings. Each child keeps their own pictures and game stages in a profile. An optional Story time reminder, at the hour you choose, makes the films part of bedtime. See our Bible stories for kids.
One membership or a family plan
