The story

Daniel loved God and prayed to him three times every day. He worked for King Darius, and he did his work so well that some other leaders grew jealous. They tricked the king into making a new law. For thirty days, people could pray only to the king, and anyone who prayed to someone else would be thrown to the lions. Daniel went home, knelt by his open window and prayed to God, just as he always had. So Daniel was put into the lions' den, and a big stone covered the opening. The king could not sleep all night. At dawn he hurried to the den and called to Daniel, and Daniel answered him. God had sent his angel to shut the lions' mouths. Daniel was not hurt at all, because he trusted in God.
