The story

Long ago, the emperor ordered everyone to be counted, so Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem, the town of King David. While they were there, Mary's baby was born. She wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, the box that holds the animals' hay, because there was no room for them in the inn. His name was Jesus. Nearby, shepherds were watching their sheep in the fields at night. Suddenly an angel stood before them, and God's glory shone all around. The angel told them not to be afraid, because he had good news of great joy. A Savior had been born, Christ the Lord. Then many angels filled the sky, praising God. The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found the baby, just as the angel had said.
